The scientific community is abuzz as the Merck Young Scientist Award announces the addition of a Sustainability Research category in its 2023 edition. This move by Merck, a front-runner in science and technology, accentuates the growing importance of eco-friendly research in the global scientific discourse.
In the face of escalating environmental challenges, the addition of this new category marks a significant shift in acknowledging the role of green chemistry, renewable/alternate energy, sustainable materials, and manufacturing in paving the way for a sustainable future.
Open to researchers with less than 10 years of post-Ph.D. research experience and residing in India, the awards intend to foster a generation of scientists dedicated to making substantial contributions to human progress. The competition will culminate in a ceremony on November 24, 2023, where 10 deserving winners will be celebrated.
This novel inclusion in the awards is expected to spark increased participation. Past editions have garnered over 2000 registrations from nearly 1000 institutes across India, reflecting the program’s stature and reach in the scientific community. The registration deadline for the 2023 edition is August 16, 2023. Those interested can find more information and apply here.
