Telangana’s Gandhi Hospital Honored for Outstanding Thalassemia Patient Services

In celebration of World Thalassemia Day, the Thalassemia Sickle Cell Society (TSCS) has applauded the Department of Paediatric Surgery at Gandhi Hospital for their unwavering dedication to providing splenectomy medical services to children with thalassemia. Prof Dr. K. Nagarjuna, who heads the department, has personally performed 70 splenectomies for thalassemia children.

The president of TSCS, Mr. Chandrakant Agarwal, and the CEO & Secretary, Dr. Suman Jain, have expressed their sincere appreciation for the hardworking paediatric surgeons at Gandhi Hospital. They were particularly impressed by the post-operative care provided to young patients, which includes a well-furnished “Children Play Den” that houses motorized cars, television, and a large aquarium, creating a warm and healing atmosphere.

As a result of their exceptional work in treating thalassemia patients, the TSCS has called upon the Telangana government to recognize and appreciate the Department of Paediatric Surgery at Gandhi Hospital for their commitment to safe splenectomy procedures.
