Human Change campaign launched at World Economic Forum in Davos to make children’s mental health a global priority

Human Change Campaign Launch at Davos World Economic Forum

The global advocacy campaign, Human Change, was launched today in Davos at the World Economic Forum to raise awareness and drive transformation in the way children approach social media and the digitization of their lives.

The campaign, founded by Margarita Louis-Dreyfus, brings together people from all walks of life – academics, pediatricians, advocates, practitioners, teachers and, most importantly, parents and young people – in a shared commitment to protect children from the harmful effects of digitalisation.

The Human Change campaign is committed to changing the discourse on global health and bringing the impact of social media and digital devices on children’s well-being to the forefront of the global health conversation.

In a series of cutting-edge panel discussions, international experts from psychology, medicine, business, government and others will gather at the Human Change House to discuss how digitalization and social media are changing our children and how these children, once they become adults, will shape the future society. Further discussions will focus on whether we can talk about too much educational technology. Do governments have a responsibility to better regulate technology to protect future generations? And what is the impact of digital dependency on the future workforce?

Leading clinicians, leaders in their fields, will seek answers to these pressing questions and many more.

Mitch Prinstein, Scientific Director of the American Psychological Association, Dr. Michael Rich, Founder of the Digital Wellness Lab, and Dr. Stacy Drury, Chief Psychiatrist, as well as Dr. Jim Winston, Psychologist and Trustee of the Winston Family Foundation, will present evidence-based arguments to the Davos audience.

Gaia Bernstein, Co-Director of the Gibbons Institute of Law Science and Technology at Seton Hall University School of Law, will discuss lessons from the tobacco and food industries. Chris McKenna, CEO and founder of Protect Young Eyes, will talk about the urgent government regulation needed to curb technology addiction.

The Human Change campaign is proud to share its platform with Larissa May, Founder and Executive Director of #HalftheStory, and Dr. Phil McRae, Executive Director of the Alberta Teacher’s Association, who are strengthening the next generation’s relationship with social media, mental health, and technology – encouraging different perspectives on emerging technologies.

Leading commentators on human change are gathered to reflect on what can be done with prominent WEF members, including Frank McCourt of McCourt Global and Julie Inman Grant, Australian Commissioner for eSafety.

The Human Change House will be open daily on Promenade 49 in Davos, with panels and receptions.
